Try to anticipate photogenic lifestyle moments. Many beautiful lifestyle photography scenes last only a second. That’s why it’s crucial to think in advance and start shooting before that moment happens. Keep your camera ready at all times, and shoot in burst mode, so you can catch the seconds before and after every picturesque moment.

In some ways, lifestyle photography resembles wildlife photography. While there’s always a certain amount of luck involved, you can increase your chances of getting nice shots by paying close attention to how your models are interacting with each other and their environment. There’s some predictability to how people behave; for example, when someone is being silly or telling a joke, you can anticipate a smile.

SA Home Owner commissions Colin Stephenson to photograph homes in the Western Cape.This minimalist home in George allows for very clean interior property photography. The simplicity of the interiors are best photographed in late evening light to showcase the bright white interior. Colin Stephenson worked very closely with the property developer architect to ensure that the real estate photography showcased the properties best features.

“The interior photography looks awesome, I especially like the ones looking from the inside out to the mountains in the early evening – the dark blue dusky colours complement the interior beautifully – and the way you could make every corner come alive to look just fantastic – I am speechless. I only now realise what a beautiful place this is through your lens.
We particularly wanted you to capture interior Photographs of the small private garden as part of the living space, which you totally succeeded in doing – the in- and exterior flowing seamlessly into one, and then also the interesting ceiling design with vaulted and horizontal levels and the bulkhead over the island that just seems to ‘drop’ out of nowhere.
