We love food! There is nothing better than working with a passionate chef that is completely absorbed in their art. The energy and activity onset is contagious and you cannot help but get stuck into the food photography with your camera and specialised lenses to document all the prep and final compositions of delicious food. Placing your lighting in just the right place enhances the glistening, juiciness and textures of hot succulent food.

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” ~ Dorothea Lange

Having worked with several top South African Chefs over the years of shooting editorial and food photo shoots on location it was a highlight to work with Liezie Mulder from île de païn and shoot all the food photography for her book Café Food.

The dishes where produced over several days on location and photographed fresh. We created a mobile mini photographic studio for the dishes in order to achieve the lighting we desired. Fresh produce, steaming baked bread, colourful vegetables and glistening platters. The food was styled specifically for each dish and the photographs themed accordingly. A combination of natural light and studio flashes kept the imagery consistent and made the food look fresh and really lifted it off the page. A combination of macro lens food photography and low angled food dish shots help balance this portfolio. Needless to say the create Photographers are both foodies and food photography commissions are always a treat.
